Disentangling

Life doesn’t move in a straight line, and sometimes it gets especially tangly and twisted. It’s easy to feel stuck and stagnant, trapped in a state that seems wrong. But transformation doesn’t happen without discomfort, and discomfort can become a threshold, an opening onto a new state of being.

So stay with the unease, the tenderness and confusion. Sit within the tangle of yourself and let it be what it is. Sink deeply into the twists and turns, the worries and world weariness.

It may take some time, but eventually you’ll find you can do nothing other than begin to disentangle and unfurl.

  1. good advice. too often there is a (not very honest) narrative that implies progress is a straight line, and pain is something to avoid/disavow, and confusion equals lack of clarity. progress is anything but straight; it's a dance of 2 steps forward, 1 step back, at least, with unpredictable intervals of resting and regrouping and simply waiting. pain is part of life, and often must be entertained as an unwelcome but unavoidable guest who leaves in his own time. and confusion, too, is a natural part of our evolving...one may be very clear about how one wishes to feel or what needs to be achieved, and yet confused about how to get there. acceptance of the tangly process may be the first step, really. and the way out is through...

    1. Indeed. We need it all, even the confusing, painful, unpleasant bits.
